A RARE CASED EARLY 54-BORE PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MODEL 'ADAMS'S PATENT', serial no. 7,
built to the patent standard of July 12, 1861, with blued octagonal 6in. barrel integral with the frame, dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to rear of standing breech, the top-strap signed 'ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS COMPANY, 391 STRAND, LONDON', hinged under-barrel rammer retaining the cylinder arbor, plain blued cylinder with radial nipple fences, action sides attached to the frame via screws, the right hand side engraved 'ADAMS'S PATENT IMPROVED No7', double-action trigger mechanism, chequered walnut one-piece grip, iron butt-cap, the whole retaining a remarkable amount of apparently original finish and complete with its oak storage case lined and compartmented in green baize and containing a 'J Adams' brass bullet mould, a mahogany cleaning rod, a fine 'James Dixon' bag-shaped flask, a nipple key and boxwood nipple pot.

Other Notes: Patent No. 1758 of July 12 ,1861 granted to John Adams is for most notably the one piece construction of frame and barrel. So as not to infringe on his brother Robert Adams patent, John produced his revolvers with a detachable grip and action body This is the seventh revolver produced to this design
